10:47 am - New interests
So it turns out when I don't record where I've been wandering I turn around to return there and FORGET WHERE I HAVE GONE.

I returned to try once again Sasuke/Naruto like those by FastForward, but the angst is always too much and the boys too broken. If that isn't the case then the sexual tension isn't subtle enough, and I would read six chapters very enjoyably and then not be able to go any further.

I found a FANTASTIC Sakura/Itachi fic (which I had not been on the hunt for) which reminded me once again that really, when it comes to pairings, I can go almost anywhere a good author wants to take me. Loophole was wonderful, as was the sequel.

Five minutes ago I was sure Loophole's author was the one I was about to hunt down. But now I remember that suppi-chan wrote a glorious Daisuke/Satoshi for DNAngel, and that I am going to have to go hunt down the rest of her stuff. Nicely she also has a lj, [info]lazulisong. Sadly her stuff is scattered over EVERYWHERE. But here we go.

Why is it so hard to find Randy Disher/Leland Stetlyesomething slash fiction from the show Monk? Am I the only one that thought it would be too much fun?

Have I started reading Fictionpress.com? Yes. Yes I have. It is like having compressed adorable shonen-ai anime, semi-decent romance novels, and self-indulgent fantasy right at my fingertips AT ALL TIMES. I even enjoy just randomly wandering through it, without that desperate sense of "must find story that fits fandom and does not destroy characters NOW". And I think there's a smaller percentage of make your bleed fiction than fanfiction seems to acquire, although don't quote me on that one since I'm still on day two of this experiment. Plus I've discovered google Bookmark, which just swank.

There's something so delectable about wandering into a fandom where you haven't already read the Big Names.

I'm reaching my six month point for Mckay/Sheppard, and, right on schedule, the insatiable ability to read for hours is waning. So I've begun to reach out, seeking that new fandom in which to immerse myself and while away the Saturdays. I've no idea where I will end up. Instead I return to the occasional Harry/Draco (one in which I have not read enough to burn out in). I tried Clark/Lex, but something about it simply doesn't gel for me. The wrong type of angst perhaps. I'm not sure I'm willing to dig through the Cardcaptor Sakura for the gems, and I don't want to try FullMetal Alchemist until I've finished the series (and even then the show doesn't leave me with a burning desire to see tensions played out in full).

What amazes me the most is that this is a predictable six-month cycle. At the beginning of my fannish devotion I couldn't imagine ever being tired of it. And then suddenly, almost in a single day, I realize I am swiftly approaching DONE, and that I need something else (or else I get quite restless).

Although I really do need to finish typing up the next chapter of my own story. I actually have it written, it just needs the rewrite/transfer to digital phase.

(Also: The Harry Potter MsScribe Debacle </s> is a bizarre account of the inner angst of fandom. Bizarre in how unbelievable, and yet large-scale familiar it is. Just...the internet being one of those v. odd places.)

4:38 pm - Flightlessness Chapter 17: Choice
Almost done, almost done. I wrote over six pages last night, pen flying across the page, and now I remember how it feels when I have the imagery in the my head and just desperately want to get it out. I'm really looking forward to my rewrite onto the computer, because I think it will get SO MUCH BETTER.

Also, contacted someone about maybe doing Beta work on the first chapter, because that puppy was written when I was in HIGH SCHOOL, and I think needs to tender loving care to bring up to snuff. Since that is what people see first I think it needs some spit and polish, and it is not like I am doing anything that requires much attention this summer.

Smallville needs to not have fantastic Clark and Lex marriage of convenience fics because I don't watch to the show and do not need another giant fandom to dig through. but if you, you know, want to read one that is fantastic Omiai is where it is at.

4:46 pm - While you are waiting for the next chapter
Just so you don't think I'm not doing ANYTHING, I figured I should give you the link to my Cyberpunk co-operative fiction thread. (I will continue to write Flightlessness, I swear.)

Ketek

A girl with deep violet fading to white hair stands at the very summit of a cacophony of metal. She'd finally managed to make it to Seventh Circle Circuit where the Chosen battle with only the best meatware. The boy before her twitched as she executed the move that had won her every fight in Second Circle. She didn't know what debt the poor kid was paying off, but he was perfect. Enough brain activity left to react immediately, but far enough gone that he wouldn't put up a fight. 'Course there was always the chance he was one of the Volunteers; that small sect that prided themselves on providing the ideal battleground, totally pliant to any Chosen's needs. But probably he'd just run up one too many Supply debts and this was the only way he could get at the stuff. And Seveth Circle's ketek was smooth, probably the purest she'd ever come across. Marsh could feel its quicksilver shiver go right through her, shaking out into moves even she didn't know she could perform. She could definitely get used to this. This was why she fought, why all of the truly great fought. The chance to hit that perfect moment, the ability to see where one had to go and be already there, and do whatever it took to bring their opponent down.

If you are really starved I show up in both Agespast Alliance (comic book style action heroes) and Q.U.E.S.T. (grand fantasy questing) but the cyberpunk is my new baby.

So you're welcome if you are interested, and if you enjoy reading it throw me a line, otherwise I'll have no idea if anyone other than those of us who are writing it is seeing it (not that we'd mind. We're doing it mainly for our own amusement anyway).

10:37 pm - Flightlessness Update
Hah! Two years later and I have finally FINALLY updated my story Flightlessness. The only problem is now fanfiction.net has a hit counter so you can tell how many people have clicked on your story but then NOT LEFT YOU A REVIEW. Which I have to admit is kinda obsessive making. I keep watching the hit counter (I had six hits within ten minutes of posting. yay!) and then lamenting the lack of review getting. It is amazing how important even two little words like "yay, update!" can be. What is even more incredible is that even knowing how silly I get over reviews I still do not always leave them for authors and stories that I enjoy. Let this be a lesson to me.

4:11 pm - New Icon
I officially just spent an HOUR trying to get my scandalous ibook icon to work. Working in 100x100 pixels is amazingly hard, and it took forever to make the jewellery POP, and make it so that you can actually see the apple. That's all I was doing, and it still took forEVER (and I may continue to try to get the bracelets to work).

9:41 pm - Research
Does anyone know if IV's drip if ripped out of an arm and left on the floor? Or does this not happen? Are they somehow special and only work when combined with the suction of a vein?

hmm...

So, umm... While my Sheppard is the Little Mermaid Fic hasn't been touched since I started it, I may be about to enter an April Challenge in which I turn Rodney into the annoying Fairy from Zelda Ocarina of Time. Which means John would be... um.. Link.

In more respectable news I am also halfway through typing up Chapter 16 of Flightlessness which makes me super cool awesome. As are the people who are still sending me super encouraging reviews. Because those reviews make me happy and also keep me going. Huzzah~

4:46 pm - House M.D. episode
So House and Wilson? Super in love. They are possibly the bestest things EVER and are currently entertaining me beyond all possible belief. Following the subtext on television has become my most recent fantastic addiction which I am currently trying to keep marginally under control. But still! Wilson cooks! Cooks for HOUSE! Because he wants House to let him stay in his well.. house and OMG YES! Best reason EVER to miss TaiChi and not do work.

In other news the chapter is still not typed up. I realized my Honours Thesis (unstarted) is due in five weeks and am currently mildly flipping out by becoming incapable of doing anything productive. Which I am now going to go prove wrong my reading my comedic theory book in the bath (also need to remember to buy bath bubbles).

5:51 pm - Flightlessness Update
Chapter 16 is written! That's right, I've actually completed a chapter. Now it isn't typed yet (I write longhand first because it gives me a mandatory second draft. That and is more portable for the plane) and I am actually thinking of sending it off to a beta reader (gasp and shock! There might actually be correct grammar!) but baring horrendous happenings I might get it posted by ... ok, I'm going to say a week, but my promises are worth NOTHING.

So v. proud of myself. Feeling all accomplished and shit.

1:38 am - Oh.My.God
So I've finally cracked. It is nearly two in the morning and I am busily typing up a The Little Mermaid Sheppard/McKay fic.

and I also have one in my mind where the aliens make them have sex but John says the wrong thing so Rodney can't enjoy it fic.

and one where they are the military commander and science officer of Atlantis but it is very fractured fairytale with unbelievably slow tension build.

I seriously wonder if any of these are going to see the light of day. Because oh dear oh dear.

So hah! have nearly five hundred words of Chapter Sixteen of Flightlessness.

The working title so far is Chase.

Damn it feels good to finally be getting something done. Although sadly my writing speed has NOT IMPROVED.

Reading translated Greek poetry tonight. Hesiod's Theogeny, with red wine and chillout music from Digital Import of course.

And in the heart of my glass, at the very base, reflects the shining red, a surprised splash of colour that will vanish at a sip, without ever being touched.

7:48 pm - Now I'm a drug dealer
Because the Mckay/Sheppard fandom of StarGate Atlantis is cracktastic and filled with animal tranformations and mpreg! and I simply have to share:

Rodney is turned into a tiny dinosaur in by maravatar Twenty four hours with the Rodneysaurus now with illustrations!

Sheppard is turned into an eight year old kid in Teacher's Petby Seperis and later others.

Rodney is turned into a dolphin (no really. it's great!!) in The Wheel, Atlantis, Wars, and So on by Sperenza

No one is turned into anything but they end up adopting a furry octopus in Once Upon a Furry Octopus by Skoosiepants who also writes a very fun fractured fairytale around them.

I'm pretty sure that at some point they both get turned into gay penguins, but it might just be Penguin Fic by Mmmchell, no, wait, it is FRIEND LOCKED! AHA! by wickedzoot who's journal now appears to have vanished. But it did exist. and oh god, just found MORE penguin by leah at Pygoscelis (Or, a Gift of Pebbles. and sweet jesus, here is an another one Mating Rituals by Karen McFadyydon, but the site appears to be down :(.

Rodney gives birth to ducklings: Fuzzy Duck Smell by devildoll

For both mpreg and knitting and hooker!fic and stripper!fic, and just general fantasticness (as well as some real heartbreak) run, don't walk, to [info]rageprufrock

and there's gender switch and mpregs but I am not up to finding any more of them, because oh my goodness!
\
also [info]spaggel still does the bestest and cutest art EVER.

and as always [info]ship_recs has all these and more because it (She is? they are?) Fantastic.

(oh man, and did I mention the time there was a Harlequin challenge and everyone wrote mock Harlequins for these two and it was the best of times ever? So much fun~)

2:33 am - Writage
HAH! I actually wrote two pages tonight! Ok, so it is obviously not for the chapter I SHOULD be in, but the very fact that I am actually typing up words for Flightlessness once more is fantastic. I worried I'd lost the slightly gothic, dream quality that I loved so much in it, but I think I've still got that well bubbling away inside me. And I edited chapter 15 so it wasn't filled with errors. Perhaps I will accomplish something after all.

Also, looking for a Beta reader to help with the egregious errors. Drop me a line if anyone is interested.
